It appears that the Flames got what they wanted in more ways than one on Saturday. It was clear from the start that they were targeting Dumba following his big hit on Backlund the week before.

What did you expect? This is hockey. Dumba's hit on Backland was a legal but he concussed Backland. It was end of the game so no one from Calgary could make him answer.

Good on both Dumba and Gio for answering the bell. Hopefully Dumba learns that you should punch face and not helmet.

Looking forward to the game in March.

This game was a joke. The Calgary players apparently removed the entire onus of the Koivu injury from themselves (which was an illegal hit) yet use Dumbas perfectly legal hit as some sort of point of retribution for what?

This was a ridiculous game from start to finish. Bunch of cry baby Flames that got embarrassed from a legal hit.

Trying to instigate fights with known non fighters is just plain and simple chicken poop hockey. Period...

There's no doubt the Flames are a faster more offensively talented team, so just freaking play hockey and leave the dirty pool play to the unskilled teams.

Jeez

You referring to the Wild? Why is it that we always get at least one significant injury when we play your team? Maybe the Flames are doing what contenders do and play a speed AND heavy checking game. That and the fact that they're probably tired of walking away with unanswered injuries.

The wild slashed Gaudreau's finger till it broke, concussed Backlund on an unnecessary hit (2 goals down with under a minute left), and boarded Bennett which caused him to miss last game.

Funny how big of sh** talkers Flames fans are online. If you think Staal broke Gaudreau's finger on purpose last year, you must be high on your recently approved mary jane. Its hockey, injuries happen. Quit female doging about clean hits and dirty hits, and have some class. The more skilled team won, and it was a fun game to watch.

Who said this? Of course it was not on purpose. Staal is a respected hockey player league wide. Much the same as Gio.

Some of your fans seem to have an issue that Dumba had to answer for his hit. I gained respect for him that he did. Sucks he hurt his hand.

I see no issues. No reason to be salty. As you say fun games to watch.

It was probably the other 22 slashes during that game which led to Gaudreau’s finger breaking.
Lots of top players don’t answer the bell for hits and such. So quit whining when they do or don’t.

No one was mad that Dumba had to fight. It was talked about during the days leading up to the game around here, it was expected.

Okay... facts... Dumba's hit was not legal but by no way worthy of a suspension. He left his feet and should have gotten 2. The issue is if you want to throw a hit like that then you need to be prepared for some push back.

Gio stuck out his leg and was suspended for it. It was not nor is he a Matt Cooke type play/player. With Koivu out, maybe someone who can still play the game can eat up those minutes, because ole Mikko can't.

The rematch didn't see the Flames dress a lineup looking for revenge. Our front line players are the ones who answered the bell. Jesus man, are you sure you aren't related to our Prime Minister? It was a good game, tight checking, old school hockey. If that's too much for you, try Womens Hockey, you've got a good program in Minny, go check out a game or two....

Hey Dan I like what you write, you're a fan of the game and a straight shooter when writing for the Wild but if you actually believe the Flames wanted Dumba to get hurt and miss a bunch of games?!?

And if you think Gio intentionally injured Koivu then that's the same sh!t. He does that play a million times a game to pin the puck on the wall. The guy has had 0 suspensions and plays as much as anyone. Captain decided to try and blow through him and got injured.

And I'm not saying the Dumba play was necessarily meant to intentionally injure but it was definitely a frustrated play. So was the Staal one. You don't slash a player in the hands a dozen times hoping nothing happens.

What retribution? Everyone answered for their hits wether they were clean or dirty. Tkachuk stood up for his teammate and Dumba answered. Hendricks did the same for your team with Gio.

Every team now a days stands up for players over any big hit (clean and dirty). Suter looked like he was stepping in for Nino, which I don't know why since he doesn't fight which you could clearly see from that fight. Who are these known non fighters? Dumba has been in more fights than Tkachuk while Gio and Hendricks have both had their fair shares.

You should be more concerned with your teams power play from that game which was 0-4 and gifted a power play with under 3 minutes left in the game for a chance to tie it
